RPACNJ's mission is to provide a comprehensive experience in teaching the performing and visual arts through group instruction and collaboration in a welcoming environment.
RPACNJ's main belief is that the arts is important not just for mental, emotional, and spiritual development of one's self but also to help maintain a sense of connection to our fellow human beings from different paths of life as well as discover and developing the artist that is within each of us, even if you believe you have zero artistic talent! Through our various and unique classes and group offerings, we hope to add a unique sense of community and contribution to the surrounding area.
Meson Banas
Meson Banas (aka "Mr. B" to all of his current and former students as well as his colleagues) is currently a Music Teacher in Woodbury Heights Elementary School in addition to serving as the Worship Arts Director at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Under his tenure, the Music Department at Woodbury Heights, (where he has been teaching for the last 22 years) has evolved from offering only general music classes during the day into a program that offers a wide variety of programs that includes Instrumental Lessons, Band, Chorus, and a Hand Chime program (he directs all of them) that takes place before or after school. In addition, he is also the Music Director and one of the original founders of the school's musical theatre program.
As Worship Arts Director at the Church of the Good Shepherd Cherry Hill, he currently oversees the Music Ministry (which consists of Praise and Worship Bands and Choirs that perform contemporary and classical sacred music) as well as the Media Ministry (which consists of the visual and audio presentation of the church's live and streaming services). He originally started as the Worship Pianist in 2008 and throughout the years developed the Music Ministry and founded the Media Ministry and cultivated both into their current forms.
Meson started his journey as an artist when he started Piano lessons at the age of 4, singing at age 5, Handbells at the age of 8, and French Horn at age 10 in addition to dabbling in a wide variety of instruments throughout his childhood (he even took ballet lessons at the age of 8 but didn't last too long 😆). He would eventually attend Westminster Choir College of Rider University where he would graduate magna cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Music Education and a Masters in Teaching.
He has also been in a variety of musical groups ranging from the all South Jersey Band, Orchestra and Chorus as a child to the Westminster Symphonic Choir, Westminster Handbell Choir, Westminster Opera Theatre, Rutgers University Newark Choir, and Princeton University Wind Ensemble during his collegiate years to performing in various venues in all 50 states and various countries throughout the world as a singer, instrumentalist, and conductor.
I believe the following:
Everyone has a right to access high quality artistic instruction.
Everyone has an artistic side to themselves, whether they believe it or not.
It is never too early or too late to be exposed to artistic learning.
Whether you are a 5 year old who is curious about learning to sing, a 35 year old who wants to learn an instrument you haven't played since your schooling years, or a 75 year old who wants to learn something new after now that you are living the retired life, I would love to provide the opportunity for you to experience and learn (or relearn) a variety of artistic experiences through music, visual, art, or theatre.
